Would you like to volunteer your time and services in your community?
SREC has adopted three types of Voluntereing opportunities to enable you to find a route that suits you best. There's also a Membership offer that you can find under Get Involved! on the left hand side.
1. BECOME A SREC TRUSTEE
If you want the opportunity to contribute to improving community cohesion and the eradication of inequality in Sutton – then become a member of the Sutton Racial Equality Council Executive Committee.
We have a number of vacancies on our Executive Committee, for individuals who want to use their skills and experiences to help Sutton Racial Equality Council (SREC) meet its aims and objectives.
You don’t have to have been a Trustee before or previously worked in Equality and Diversity although these experiences are valuable. It’s more about the generic organisational and business skills needed to balance the Executive Committee in its decision-making for SREC and, of course, having a passion and commitment for SRECs programme of work.
The commitment is voluntary and so there is no material gain, however, being a SREC Executive Committee member offers other benefits, such as the opportunity to:
• Use skills and experience effectively
• Make new contacts and friends
• Improve personal networks
• Develop new skills
• Improve career prospects
• Get involved in the local community
• Make a difference
• Have fun
You have to be a member of Sutton Racial Equality Council for six months before being considered for the role of an Executive Committee member. Sign up today and at the same time register your interest in becoming a member of the Sutton Racial Equality Council Executive Committee. Before the six months membership is completed, the necessary documentation will be sent to you on becoming a Trustee and you can make a decision on exactly what contribution you wish to make to SREC.
If you are interested in finding out more about joining our Executive Committee then please contact Leitina Reuben-Travers on 020 8770 6196 or lrtravers@suttonrec.org.uk.
2. BE A SREC VOLUNTEER
SREC is finalising it's Volunteer Strategy for 2011 - 2013 and if you are interested in volunteering for SREC we would be happy to have you. A range of skills are always welcome from Administration to Book Keeping, or maybe you have experience in Reception duties or Marketing and Promotion. Whatever skills and experiences you have we would like to hear from you.
This is not just about what you can offer SREC, we want to help you to develop as well. There may be an area that you are interested in that you'd like to explore, we may be able to help you with that. There are opportunities to work across the organisation and support and training is available for you too.
3. BE A SREC SUPPORTER
SREC offers the opportunity to get involved in specific projects, some which are one-offs and some we routinely run. You may want to help with the development of the Football programme, or take on tasks relating to Black History Month or work with our local democracy agents to put together the Sutton Shadow a Councillor Scheme.
Whatever you're interests let us know and we'll see if we can involve you in our project work, you may also like to represent SREC at various meetings or work with Local Groups to forward community cohestion.
If you are interested in any of the above opportunities please contact our office on 020 8770 6199 or email us at admin@suttonrec.org.uk with your name and contact details along with any special skill set and days that you may be able to volunteer your services.
