Previous Projects

SREC facilitate a number of stand alone projects that fulfil our core objectives and are based on and have been developed as a response to community needs.

1. Parenting Support

Being a parent is one of the most difficult roles any individuals can undertake. Often ethnicity and cultural difficulties can add different dimensions and complexities.

SREC staff have undergone internationally renown training and are able to help parents develop close and warm relationships with their children; using alternative methods of discipline that support self-discipline in children; fostering improved self-esteem in children; developing strategies to deal with risky situations and managing anger.

We aim to help families develop or promote strong ethnic and cultural roots and an ability to access community resources, because we believe that BME parents often do not disclose family difficulties due to their cultural beliefs and customs.

2. Integrated Holiday Football Scheme 2009

In each of the principal school holidays SREC facilitate football coaching courses for local children and young people.

Apart from developing football skills and aiding physical fitness, the aim of the course is to breakdown cultural, geographical and social barriers by bring young people from a diverse range of backgrounds together in a supervised, non threatening, constructive environment.
